Alex 'Magrinho' Taveira, a Gracie Barra BJJ Brown Belt instructor and experienced competitor has, in 7 years since he began his training under Prof. Kiko Alves da Silva (1st degree Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr.), compiled an impressive record in the renowned International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation - IBJJF - circuit, rising to the podium in all his competitions.

A 2x European Open, 2x Pan American and 2x New York International Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship medalist - weight class and absolute - he is very involved in national and international BJJ events, and lives the Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle to the fullest.

While in the United States, Alex is an instructor at Gracie Barra Boston under Prof. Roberto Maia (4th degree Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr.). When not training and competing, Alex can be found surfing, traveling and carrying the Gracie Barra and BJJ flag wherever he goes.
